Get to Know: Environmental Justice

Environmental justice is more than an idea – it’s a movement recognizing that no matter who you are or where you live, everyone deserves clean air, safe water, and a healthy environment to call home. Environmental justice calls for laws and policies to be developed and implemented with the meaningful involvement of impacted communities while prioritizing human and environmental health. 

Use this fact sheet – developed as part of our 5-Part Public Legal Education Series – to understand the three key principles of environmental justice, why certain communities are disproportionately impacted by environmental hazards, and what can be done to move towards a more equitable future.
