Protecting Indigenous Laws, Lands and Waters

Did you know that many of Ontario’s rivers and lakes flow in the direction of Hudson’s Bay? Join us for an Ocean Week Canada 2024 event hosted by Legal Advocates for Nature’s Defence (LAND) to:

  • learn about legal tools which exist to protect the lands and waters of the Arctic watershed here in Ontario
  • hear stories of hope and resilience from the Friends of the Attawapiskat River, whose Indigenous knowledge and leadership play a critical role in marine protection and conservation

Ocean Week Canada is a public celebration of the ocean from coast to coast to coast. This event is just one of many events and activities coordinated by The Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition taking place across the country during the week of World Ocean Day (June 8th).

When: June 6th, 2024, 7:00PM-8:00PM
Where:  North Bay Public Library, 271 Worthington St E, North Bay, ON P1B 1H1 – Auditorium Room or Virtually via Zoom
